These are not all the possible side effects of ella®. Reach out to your healthcare provider if you experience any side effects that are bothering you or won’t go away.

ella® and your next period

Some women who take ella® may have their next period earlier or later than expected. Since there is no way to confirm if ella® has worked until your next period, keep an eye out that your period is not delayed more than a week later than usual. If your period is more than 7 days late after taking ella®, you should take a pregnancy test or contact your doctor or pharmacist.

ella® and fertility

ella® will not affect your future fertility. Fertility (or your ability to get pregnant) returns rapidly after taking ella®, so it’s important to use a barrier method of contraception until your next period. You’ll need to wait 5 days after using ella® before resuming any hormonal birth control.
